I think everyone is too obsessed about beauty. I made a film called "Beauty: In the Eyes of the Beheld" where I interviewed "beautiful" women and asked them what it is REALLY like to be "beautiful." After hearing their life stories, I realized that the ones who relied the LEAST on their beauty were happiest. The ones who relied on it the MOST ended up being lonely, lost, and insecure. Being beautiful is nice, but it's not everything it's cracked up to be.

The dove campaign is trying to prove a point of the PUBLICS distorted perception. Skinny is what the people want to see, not what they neccesarly want to promote

I think that is is nothing more than an excellent advertising campaign. They are still in the beauty business, and their job is to make money. I'm glad that in this case they aren't using insecurity to sell their products, but do they really care about our self esteem? More than their bottom line? I think not.
